A Message From Sally Chu
Hi! ʕ·ᴥ·ʔ 👋🏻
This year I decided to apply for an opportunity that I have been looking forward to since my first year of college — and that’s being a counselor for UCLA UniCamp!
UCLA UniCamp is the official student charity of UCLA. It is an independent non-profit organization that inspires nearly 1,200 children from low-income families around LA to envision brighter futures by sending them, along with student volunteers, to its residential outdoor summer camp, Camp River Glen.
My session is partnering up with Project Grad Los Angeles (PGLA and Determined to Succeed Los Angeles. Focusing on developing life skills and leadership, my session hopes to provide our campers with tools necessary to navigate successfully through college and beyond as well as a lifetime of memories from an amazing week at summer camp :).
However, it costs around $650 to send a camper to camp, and because we focus on a low-income demographic, we try to fund as much as possible to allow the campers the opportunity to attend camp.
As a counselor, my fundraising goal is $500, which will go entirely to sending a camper to camp. Every little bit helps!
