A Message From Suki Navarro
As a former camper, former counselor, and now a part of the Leadership team, I believe that everyone can make a difference, but together as a whole we make change. I will be serving on the Leadership team for Session 1, which will focus on Life Skills & Leadership Development.
Project Grad Los Angeles (PGLA) works with urban youth from the San Fernando Valley to prepare them for college and life. This session will equip campers with the skills necessary to properly navigate to college and through college. A Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) component will teach campers to maintain positive mental health through the stressful process. By learning Life skills and Leadership Development it will prepare them for the rest of their summer institute as well as personal growth for future endeavors. Project Grad and UniCamp combined will not only enhance their life skills, but also help them stand as individuals in our society today. Together we can ignite the potential of first generation students, their families, and our community.
In Support of UCLA UniCamp
UCLA UniCamp is the official student charity of the University of California, Los Angeles. UniCamp operates as an independently funded non-profit organization linking the University with the community. Each year, UniCamp inspires nearly 1,000 children from underserved families to envision brighter futures by sending them, along with 400 student volunteers, to its residential outdoor summer camp.
