A Message From Brenda Ramirez
Hello everyone! My name is Brenda Ramirez and this year I joined the amazing program of UniCamp at UCLA! I'm really excited and looking forward to this summer to help the incredible children of the areas in Burbank and Pasadena who live in underserved communities to help them develop leadership skills and know how to deal with violence and difficult situations in a positive and safe manner.
The reason I decided to join UniCamp is because I can relate to these children and teenagers. I come from a very small town that lacks many different resources and I have also experienced different situations in which I have had (still have) a hard time knowing what to do and finding a solution. I want to be able to have a positive impact on these kids and guide them to make good choices and support and encourage them right now and help them achieve their goals and dreams. I want to be someone they can trust and feel loved by because that's what we need in communities like ours.
With your help, we will be able to pay for a child to assist UniCamp so they don't have to worry about money. They will be able to enjoy a great summer in which they will improve their security, confidence, leadership and self-care.
In Support of UCLA UniCamp
UCLA UniCamp is the official student charity of the University of California, Los Angeles. UniCamp operates as an independently funded non-profit organization linking the University with the community. Each year, UniCamp inspires nearly 1,000 children from underserved families to envision brighter futures by sending them, along with 400 student volunteers, to its residential outdoor summer camp.
