A Message From Echo Woodsey
UniCamp, the official student charity of UCLA, is a non-profit organization that sends over one thousand urban Los Angeles youth to camp for the summer.
This year, I will be serving as a Head Counselor for AcademiCamp, which aims to reignite these campers' love for learning! As Head Counselor, I will be working alongside with our partner organization, Horace Mann UCLA Community School, to develop an entire week of camp that will be a part of a 7-week summer institute for these middle school students.
However, to make this camp experience possible for these Horace Mann students, your help is needed! My fundraising goal is $600, and it would mean so much to these campers if you helped by donating any amount, large or small. These tax-deductible donations are sincerely appreciated. On behalf of UniCamp, I hope that you all know that you are making an incredible difference to these children who we are here to serve, and who will serve our community in the future!
Finally, if you are wondering about my name change to "Echo Woodsey," we have a long-held tradition at camp where individuals in leadership positions do not reveal their names to their volunteers! Instead, we use "camp names" to introduce the concept that, at camp, anyone can be whatever they want to be, and that includes choosing their own names!
In Support of UCLA UniCamp
UCLA UniCamp is the official student charity of the University of California, Los Angeles. UniCamp operates as an independently funded non-profit organization linking the University with the community. Each year, UniCamp inspires nearly 1,000 children from underserved families to envision brighter futures by sending them, along with 400 student volunteers, to its residential outdoor summer camp.
