A Message From AcademiCamp: Social Justice Education 2017
AcademiCamp is a hybrid of an academic day camp and residential summer camp. AcademiCamp is part of the seven-week Mann Middle School UCLA Summer Institute program focusing on addressing the summer learning loss at Horace Mann Middle School. The Institute is designed to engage students in hands-on learning in order to promote critical thinking, academic enrichment, and social development. Before attending camp, campers participate in a rigorous seven week academic intervention day camp to enhance reading, writing and math skills. Campers also have the opportunity to have fun and be themselves through traditional camp activities such as archery, swimming, climbing, mountain biking, hiking, and much more.
In Support of UCLA UniCamp
UCLA UniCamp is the official student charity of the University of California, Los Angeles. UniCamp operates as an independently funded non-profit organization linking the University with the community. Each year, UniCamp inspires nearly 1,000 children from underserved families to envision brighter futures by sending them, along with 400 student volunteers, to its residential outdoor summer camp.
