A Message From Amy Shao

Hello there! If you are reading this then that means you took the time to visit my page for UniCamp! Therefore I would like to start off with a BIG THANK YOU! The reason for my enthusiasm is because of the bigger purpose that lies behind this simple page. This page is merely a stepping stone to achieve the end goal of creating an opportunity for underprivileged youth to spend a week developing their understanding of how we as individuals affect the environment which we live in. Most of these youth believe it is of the norm that they live in urban food deserts where fresh produce is not readily available to them. That in itself is a microcosm of a larger problem of sustainability and accountability. Therefore, if you are still reading this, thank you. And if you believe in the greater purpose of my mission here with UniCamp as a tool to help educate the youth and would like to donate, I further thank you for not only your time, but your generosity. UCLA UniCamp is the official student charity of the University of California, Los Angeles. UniCamp operates as an independently funded non-profit organization linking the University with the community. Each year, UniCamp inspires nearly 1,000 children from underserved families to envision brighter futures by sending them, along with 400 student volunteers, to its residential outdoor summer camp.
