A Message From Taymar Lavender Quezada
I am so proud to be a part of UCLA's official charity-Unicamp! Unicamp is an amazing non-profit organization that sends nearly 1,300 kids from low-income families and underprivileged communities to camp where they learn valuable skills and create lasting memories, inspiring them to strive for a brighter future. Along with the children, the organization sends about 450 student volunteers like me to run the camp week and create programs for the children. Unicamp hosts multiple sessions (camp weeks) that all have a different theme, and I’ve been so lucky this year to be accepted into Session 2, whose theme is Mental Health! In my session, my fellow student volunteers will meet every week to train for camp and create programs and activities designed to educate our 11th-12th grade campers about mental health and how to maintain their own mental health in the stressful college environment. We all know how competitive and stressful college can be! The struggle is all too real! Please help me send a child to camp and have the time of their lives!
I am extremely excited to participate in Unicamp because it is such a wonderful organization full of lively people, and I can’t wait to go to camp!
As a member of Unicamp, it is my goal to raise $480 by my week of camp (June 26- July 2, 2015) to help send a child to camp, and it would mean so much if you could donate to this great cause and support me. Any amount would be incredibly helpful and greatly appreciated by Unicamp and most of all, me! :)
