A Message From Guadalupe Arreola
At the age of 11 I lost my father in a car accident and it was difficult adjusting to a new life where my father was no longer present. It took me a while to be able to accept his death, but with the help of my family, friends, and mentors I was able to move on with my life. I know that if it were not for all of the people I mentioned I would not be where I am today. This is why I am asking you for your help. I have joined a camp at UCLA called, UniCamp where we have different sessions over the summer for kids from the ages of 10-14 years who are part of a underserved community. My session focuses on childhood grief. Our mission is to provide these kids with mental support after having lost a loved one and to allow them to see that despite losing someone they are strong, powerful, and capable of moving on even when it may seem that they cannot. Please help me give back to these kids what I one day received from you. I ask you all to help me reach my goal as a counselor in raising $450, so anything you give me will be of much help, thank you.
In Support of UCLA UniCamp
UCLA UniCamp is the official student charity of the University of California, Los Angeles. UniCamp operates as an independently funded non-profit organization linking the University with the community. Each year, UniCamp inspires nearly 1,000 children from underserved families to envision brighter futures by sending them, along with 400 student volunteers, to its residential outdoor summer camp.
