A Message From Jessica Matsubara
This summer, I have the incredible privilege of being a counselor at UniCamp! It is one of UCLA’s largest and longest running traditions. UniCamp provides an outlet for UCLA Student Volunteers to give back to their community and make a difference in the lives of LA’s urban youth. This program gives campers the opportunity to explore the outdoors and participate in traditional camp programs.
In addition to the traditional camp experience, each UniCamp session partners with a Los Angeles area nonprofit or after-school program to address a specific social initiative. This year, I will be part of the AcademiCamp Initiative, partnered with UCLA's Horace Mann Community School. The program focuses on social justice education, learning that emphasizes the students' cultural and social backgrounds to develop a sense of pride and self confidence in their potential.
I am so excited to be part of such an amazing and rewarding experience, alongside the rest of the "Woodsey" family!
Thank you so much for your support!

In Support of UCLA UniCamp
UCLA UniCamp is the official student charity of the University of California, Los Angeles. UniCamp operates as an independently funded non-profit organization linking the University with the community. Each year, UniCamp inspires nearly 1,000 children from underserved families to envision brighter futures by sending them, along with 400 student volunteers, to its residential outdoor summer camp.
