A Message From Rachel "Zelda" Spielman
As some of you may know, when I transferred to UCLA I joined an amazing non-profit organization called UniCamp. UniCamp is a student-run and student-funded charity that sends kids from underserved communities of Los Angeles to summer camp for a week of fun and mentorship. This experience transforms camper’s lives, as they learn that they are able to reach their highest potential, often beyond what they thought possible, and positively impact their community.
This summer I will be volunteering as a counselor for CLIMB, a program geared towards high-school aged teenagers. CLIMB stands for “Core Lessons in Mind and Body”. I will be teaching campers the five pillars of rock climbing to build both mental and physical balance. Over the course of the week, campers learn lessons in respect, awareness, responsibility, and trust in oneself and others.
As mentioned above, UniCamp is a student-funded organization and survives off generous contributions. Please consider making a donation that positively impacts the lives of nearly 1200 children annually. Without your support, UniCamp would not be possible.
Thank you so much,
Rachel aka “Zelda”
In Support of UCLA UniCamp
UCLA UniCamp is the official student charity of the University of California, Los Angeles. UniCamp operates as an independently funded non-profit organization linking the University with the community. Each year, UniCamp inspires nearly 1,000 children from underserved families to envision brighter futures by sending them, along with 400 student volunteers, to its residential outdoor summer camp.
