A Message From Lilo Woodsey
Hi everyone! My favorite season is finally here, and that's camp season! As you may or may not know, this is my third year volunteering for UCLA UniCamp; only this year, I am part of the leadership team for the AcademiCamp session. UniCamp is UCLA's official charity that provides opportunities for UCLA students to be camp counselors for the underserved youth of the LA community. We provide these kids a subsidized week of summer camp through our fundraising and help give these campers one week of summer that would would typically never get the chance to receive.
I'm back for another year because UniCamp holds a very sacred place that is near and dear to my heart. With AcademiCamp's mission to bring the excitement of learning and instill it in the hearts of the campers is what brought me here today. We've all gone through the education system and can understand that our academic careers can be heavily impacted by our personal lives. The middle school children we work with are from harsh neighborhoods with limited resources that puts them behind peers at more privileged school districts. Learning is a tremendous part of individual growth, and as a session, we want to inspire these kids to understand the importance of education.
I'd appreciate any donation of any amount that you are comfortable with donating! Every bit will help me reach my goal of $1,000. If you'd like to donate, please refrain from using my real name and refer to me as my camp name, Lilo. Thank you and much woodsey love!
In Support of UCLA UniCamp
UCLA UniCamp is the official student charity of the University of California, Los Angeles. UniCamp operates as an independently funded non-profit organization linking the University with the community. Each year, UniCamp inspires nearly 1,000 children from underserved families to envision brighter futures by sending them, along with 400 student volunteers, to its residential outdoor summer camp.
