A Message From Sandra "Catbug" Huynh
UniCamp is an UCLA non profit organization that serves the underprivileged urban youth of LA by creating opportunities for them to have an awe-inspiring summer camp experience. Joining UniCamp two years ago, by far, has been one of my best decisions.
For the past two years, I have been an Alpine Specialist. And I loved it! I loved being able to hold a rotation where kids can come and test how far up they can climb, conquer their fear of heights, or see what they could achieve when they thought they couldn't.
This year, I have taken it step further to take part of the Older Camper Program and become one of the C.L.I.M.B. (Core Lessons In Mind and Body) advisors. I'll be teaching my kids the five basic principles of climbing, including climbing, belaying, bouldering, slacklining and rappelling. Towards the end of the camp week, we'll be going to Holcomb Valley! I hope to not only give these kids an opportunity to experience climbing, but also so that they can challenge themselves while being in a supportive community.

In Support of UCLA UniCamp
UCLA UniCamp is the official student charity of the University of California, Los Angeles. UniCamp operates as an independently funded non-profit organization linking the University with the community. Each year, UniCamp inspires nearly 1,000 children from underserved families to envision brighter futures by sending them, along with 400 student volunteers, to its residential outdoor summer camp.
