A Message From Elmo Woodsey
Hi Everyone,
Thanks for taking the time to visit my page!
UniCamp is an org that is special and dear to my heart for many reasons. It has been a place that has challenged me and grown me into the person I am today. It has been the place where I have met some of my closest friends at UCLA. It has been a place where I have shed tears from learning from one another, and laughed endlessly from the fun memories with the kids and counselors. It has been the place that reminded me of the importance of community and most importantly- giving back to our youth and helping them grow into the leaders of tomorrow.
For those who are unfamiliar with UniCamp, UniCamp is a UCLA's official student charity that has been around since 1934. It hosts 8 sessions, each one a week long in which ~50 student volunteers take underprivileged youth from LA up to Camp River Glen in Big Bear Mountains for a week of summer camp. We fundraise to help cover the cost of the kids that would go up the mountain with us.
This year, I have been to lucky enough to join the Leadership Team in making this camp possible for our volunteers and kids. Our (Wolfie, Tink, and my) session will focus on youth who have experienced loss of loved ones while growing up- giving them a Woodsey family of support and week full of friendship and laughter.
I would really appreciate any donations to help bring these kids up the mountain for an amazing week of camp!!
Much Woodsey Love,
Elmo
