A Message From Ellie "Otter" Sellman
Hi everyone!! I'm glad that you've made it to my UniCamp Fundraising page :) My name is Ellie Sellman, but my campers will call me Otter! UCLA UniCamp, founded in 1934, is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that sends 1200+ underserved and marginalized youth from Los Angeles to summer camp at an extremely reduced cost in order to help them envision brighter futures, develop a love for serving the community, and learn more about themselves in nature.
I am super excited to start my journey with UniCamp this summer and will be volunteering as a pool specialist counselor while staying with a cabin of roughly 9 campers. My responsibilities will include leading activities and creating a positive and safe environment for campers, and I'm currently completing 14 weeks of training to develop skills necessary to be a counselor. I see great value in the connections young people can make with each other and themselves while in nature, and I'm so grateful that I'll be able to help give campers this experience.
Since UniCamp serves underserved communities in LA, we cannot go to camp without the help of your donations, which is why I am asking you to make a donation of any amount that you are comfortable with, or send it along to others! With your donation, I will be able to raise enough money to help send more kids to camp and ensure the availability of funding that will go towards facilitating engaging and meaningful activities for the kids to participate in.
If you'd like, you can also venmo me @Ellie-Sellman and I can send in your donation for you. Thank you for stopping by! Together, let's make this upcoming summer an empowering memory for the underserved youth of Los Angeles!
In Support of UCLA UniCamp
UCLA UniCamp is the official student charity of the University of California, Los Angeles. UniCamp operates as an independently funded non-profit organization linking the University with the community. Each year, UniCamp inspires nearly 1,000 children from underserved families to envision brighter futures by sending them, along with 400 student volunteers, to its residential outdoor summer camp.
