A Message From Nathan Klassen
Hi All!
This year, being a part of UniCorps I get the opportunity to work with the older campers up at UniCamp! This specialty program places an emphasis on leadership, service learning, and educational awareness. By the end of the week, campers will earn a minimum of 30 hours of community service, through different projects that help preserve and improve the natural beauty of the camp. With this being said, I also have to fundraise a larger portion to help with paying for some of the costs of their specialty programs that we host and subsidize the cost for them to come to camp.
My slogan for serving this year is that "WE is more important than me." By volunteering I have invested over 100+ hours in trainings, preparing different activities for the campers, and cleaning up the campsite. After my first time being a counselor last year, I was able to experience first-hand the impact that this opportunity for kids from underserved communities in the LA area can be. Please help me reach this fundraising goal and help make summer amazing for these campers!
In Support of UCLA UniCamp
UCLA UniCamp is the official student charity of the University of California, Los Angeles. UniCamp operates as an independently funded non-profit organization linking the University with the community. Each year, UniCamp inspires nearly 1,000 children from underserved families to envision brighter futures by sending them, along with 400 student volunteers, to its residential outdoor summer camp.
