A Message From Brittany Jasper
This year, I've been involved in an exciting student organization called UCLA UniCamp. As a volunteer, I'm training over 100 hours during the Spring Quarter with other like-minded students in preparation to become better counselors to the underserved youth of Los Angeles at a week-long camp this upcoming summer.
My week of camp is called The Village Session, where campers celebrate African-American heritage in a safe place that is asset-focused, affirming, and appreciative. Village elders create an immersive environment for empowerment through strengthening confidence and character on a foundation of culture, community, and college. The Village Session provides access to resources for academic, social, and cultural excellence while developing leaders to advance the legacy of social justice.
Part of my responsibility is to raise $450.00 to support the cost of sending a child to camp. This is where I need your help. I am asking your support, at whatever amount you feel comfortable, to help me reach my goal and to experience what may be their first-ever experience of going to camp.
Thank you for your support!
Brittany
In Support of UCLA UniCamp
UCLA UniCamp is the official student charity of the University of California, Los Angeles. UniCamp operates as an independently funded non-profit organization linking the University with the community. Each year, UniCamp inspires nearly 1,000 children from underserved families to envision brighter futures by sending them, along with 400 student volunteers, to its residential outdoor summer camp.
