A Message From The Village Session
It takes a village to raise a child," is the guiding Afrikan proverb for UCLA UniCamp's The Village Nation Session. Village elders create an immersive environment for empowerment through welcoming and encouraging 'porch talk' that strengthens campers confidence and character on a foundation of culture, community and college-readiness. It is our mission to encourage campers to celebrate Afrikan American history and culture in an affirming space in efforts of knowledge through awareness. The Village Session provides access to resources for academic, social, and cultural excellence and develops culturally woke leaders to advance the legacy of our ancestors-- "We are the summation of our ancestor's prayers."
In Support of UCLA UniCamp
UCLA UniCamp is the official student charity of the University of California, Los Angeles. UniCamp operates as an independently funded non-profit organization linking the University with the community. Each year, UniCamp inspires nearly 1,000 children from underserved families to envision brighter futures by sending them, along with 400 student volunteers, to its residential outdoor summer camp.
