A Message From Vinnie Nguyen
Hi everyone! My name is Vinnie Nguyen (Vinson) and I'm here to tell you about something that's very near and dear to me. I've been given the amazing privilege of being able to take part in UCLA's official student-run charity known as UniCamp.
What this organization does is give children from the Los Angeles area the chance to explore nature and be themselves up in the wilderness of the San Bernadino Mountains. Many of these children come from underserved communities and lesser backgrounds, where they don't always have the opportunity to have their voices heard or have the right people in their life to care for them. I want to be able to make a difference in that. I don't just want to tell them they are important. I want to show them why they really are. That is why I along with everyone else at UniCamp do what we do. Like our motto says, we "Sing songs, play games, and change lives." And we do all that through what is known as our "sessions".
At my session (LDLS), we will be teaching them valuable skills that they can use throughout their life, as well as what it means to be a leader. All while having so much fun doing it! In order to accommodate for all this, we fundraise so that we can subsidize the cost to something more affordable for our campers. My goal is to raise at least $200 by mid-July so that I could give these children the experience of a lifetime.
That is why I would like to humbly ask for your help in supporting this cause by donating. I understand not everyone has the funds to throw around. But if by chance, you happened to have money to spare, it would mean so much if you were to send it this way. It would be going towards a great cause where simply sparing change could change lives. Thank you so much for your time!
In Support of UCLA UniCamp
UCLA UniCamp is the official student charity of the University of California, Los Angeles. UniCamp operates as an independently funded non-profit organization linking the University with the community. Each year, UniCamp inspires nearly 1,000 children from underserved families to envision brighter futures by sending them, along with 400 student volunteers, to its residential outdoor summer camp.
