A Message From Amanda Garza
Hello everyone!
Yoshi is back! But this time I will be floating for a different session, Camp Comforting Hearts. This week’s initiative is to provide a safe place for campers to grieve, heal and be surrounded by peers who have faced similar experiences. It also aims to support campers who face mental health problems. Our goal is to create a safe place where the campers could share and feel comfortable with themselves, mentally and physically, along with the coping skills we will provide.
When I hear that a loved one has passed away due to an illness, an accident or another cause breaks my heart. I have had friends who have lost loved ones and the best thing to do is be there for them and support them through the grieving process. It can be a scary and lonely moment for the person. But knowing that they have people there to support them could be a blessing. Although the initiative of this week could be a bit heavy, our goal is to assure the campers that they are not alone and provide them all the support they need whether they are facing something that happened in the past or in the moment.
It would mean the world to me if you can help me subsidize the cost for the campers so they can have an amazing experience up at camp. Unicamp truly helped me when I was a camper and I want it to help others as well. Thank you in advance! I truly appreciate it.
