A Message From Camp Comforting Hearts
The goal of the Camp Comforting Hearts session is to provide campers with a safe space to grieve, heal, and be among peers with similar experiences. Grief is a lifelong experience, and through this session we hope to provide campers with coping skills that they can carry down the mountain. This session also intends to provide support for our campers who face mental health problems, which are common in this demographic, to erase stigma and to provide them a space to be comfortable with themselves. But despite the heavy initiative, the purpose of this session is like any other, to give the campers a chance to simply be a kid!
In Support of UCLA UniCamp
UCLA UniCamp is the official student charity of the University of California, Los Angeles. UniCamp operates as an independently funded non-profit organization linking the University with the community. Each year, UniCamp inspires nearly 1,000 children from underserved families to envision brighter futures by sending them, along with 400 student volunteers, to its residential outdoor summer camp.
