A Message From Transitional Youth Empowerment
A child might enter foster care due to neglect, parental incarceration, abandonment, or a number of other reasons. For these children, education is not a priority with social services being more concerned with permanent housing for them. In partnership with Happy Trails for Kids, UCLA UniCamp's Transitional Youth Empowerment initiative recruits UCLA student volunteers to provide educational support, mentorship, and college readiness resources for the Los Angeles youth in the foster care system.
In Support of UCLA UniCamp
UCLA UniCamp is the official student charity of the University of California, Los Angeles. UniCamp operates as an independently funded non-profit organization linking the University with the community. Each year, UniCamp inspires nearly 1,000 children from underserved families to envision brighter futures by sending them, along with 400 student volunteers, to its residential outdoor summer camp.
