A Message From Snoopy
It’s that time of year again! The time when I start bugging you because I have been asked to volunteer again for Unicamp, UCLA’s official student charity, and I need your help.
UCLA Unicamp takes kids from around LA who qualify for the Free Lunch Program, which means that cannot afford to buy lunch at school OR bring their own to school, up to summer camp in the San Bernadino mountains for a week. Not only is it the only opportunity for most of these kids to attend a summer camp, but it is a valuable program that teaches how to create goals, why to stay in school, how to cope with social pressures throughout middle and high school, and more!
I am proud to announce that this year I have been selected to be a part of the prestigious Leadership or LShip team for UCLA UniCamp. This means that not only will I be completing my fourth year volunteering with UCLA’s official student charity, but training the volunteers will be my duty. Since becoming a freshman at UCLA, UCLA UniCamp has been the most important and life changing week I experience every year. Working with these kids has proved to be extremely challenging, but overall, beyond rewarding. One of my favorite moments from this past summer was working with two identical twins who had been raised in foster care their whole life. They started jokingly calling me sister when I was the only one who could tell them apart. At the end of the week, they told me that no one had ever cared about them enough to try and differentiate them before, and that I was the big sister they had never had.
Here is where you come in: working with an underserved community means that UCLA Unicamp works hard to shoulder the majority of the financial burden, and that means volunteer leadership like me try to raise as much as possible to send our kids up to camp. The average summer camp of this quality costs over $1000, but with your help we send kids up to camp for under $100. Please consider donating to my cause! Any amount helps.

In Support of UCLA UniCamp
UCLA UniCamp is the official student charity of the University of California, Los Angeles. UniCamp operates as an independently funded non-profit organization linking the University with the community. Each year, UniCamp inspires nearly 1,000 children from underserved families to envision brighter futures by sending them, along with 400 student volunteers, to its residential outdoor summer camp.
