A Message From Bernice Dinh
Hello friends and family!
I'm back at it again this year. I've decided to participate again in UCLA's biggest volunteer organization, Unicamp!!!
What is Unicamp? Unicamp is a one of UCLA's non-profit programs that sends low-income students in the LA area to summer camp. Up the mountain, we SING SONGS, PLAY GAMES, AND CHANGE LIVES ~~~ My session, week 6 of camp (6SQUATS!!!!) focuses on teaching life skills and leadership development, and the importance of Health, Fitness, and Nutrition (HNF) to both campers and counselors. In partnership with Boys and Girls Club of Pasadena, we hope that teaching these skills along with principles of social/emotional learning, communication, and providing guidance from college students like myself will encourage young kids the importance and influence that HNF can make on a person's life.
As one of my responsibilities as a volunteer, I'm fundraising $450 to send one kid to camp. It would mean the world to me if you could donate any amount of money you are comfortable with! Every penny counts! Donations are also tax deductable :)
In Support of UCLA UniCamp
UCLA UniCamp is the official student charity of the University of California, Los Angeles. UniCamp operates as an independently funded non-profit organization linking the University with the community. Each year, UniCamp inspires nearly 1,000 children from underserved families to envision brighter futures by sending them, along with 400 student volunteers, to its residential outdoor summer camp.
