A Message From Belen Bravo
Hi! I’m a first year here at UCLA, and during my short time here I found this cool organization called UCLA Unicamp. It is a camp that runs all summer long that takes children from the greater Los Angeles area up to camp for a week! Each week/session has a new initiative, my session is about Leadership and Social Justice Activism, in partnership with Project Grad. Our session will encourage high school-aged kids to achieve a higher education through developing leadership and communication skills so they feel prepared to stand up for the social injustices they’re most passionate about! About 90% of the kids from the area are first generation which really touches home since I myself am as well and remember the struggles of having to figure things out on my own. So to able to give back to these kids really means a lot. Also I’ve never been to camp myself so I’m REALLY excited (hehe). This camp is offered at a subsidized cost to the campers and which is possible by having each volunteer (me) fundraiser $500, so if you’d like to contribute to the cause it’d mean a lot, anything helps!
So yeah, have an WOODSEY (great) day and if you have any questions don't hesitate to contact me. WHOOO LETS HELP SEND SOME KIDS TO COLLEGE!!
-Love Pizzaz (camp name, combination of pizza & pizzazz)
