A Message From Jasmit Nijjar
For the past 5 years I have volunteered for an amazing organization called UCLA Unicamp. UCLA Unicamp takes underprivileged youth and allows them to remove themselves from the world to enjoy a week of camp. Throughout my years I have the privilege to work with the youngest kids to the oldest. I have seen firsthand how this organization affects the children and motivates them to be the best they can be. Many of the campers I worked with and interacted with love the experience they are able to get and cherish all of the beautiful moments that Unicamp offers. This organization also has greatly influenced the way the volunteers live their lives including myself. Every year I learn something more about myself and it allows me to improve myself. From when I first started the program till now, I have completely changed who I am and how I think about everything around me. Without Unicamp I wouldn’t be the person I am now. This year I am in WALL, an older camper program. WALL stands for Wilderness Adventures in Leadership and Learning. In this program my team and a group of high school kids will be hiking about 27 miles in an effort to summit Mount San Gorgonio, the tallest peak in Southern California. And I ask for your help in order to make this a reality for the kids, volunteers and Unicamp. Any donation, small or large, will help me towards my goal. Thank you all very much!
In Support of UCLA UniCamp
UCLA UniCamp is the official student charity of the University of California, Los Angeles. UniCamp operates as an independently funded non-profit organization linking the University with the community. Each year, UniCamp inspires nearly 1,000 children from underserved families to envision brighter futures by sending them, along with 400 student volunteers, to its residential outdoor summer camp.
