A Message From Marilyn Pebbles Kimbrough
This is my fourth (and likely my last) year volunteering as a camp counselor with UniCamp. In the past, my weeks of camp have been the most challenging and most rewarding of my life, but this year I will take it one step--or rather about 26 miles--further.
This year I am an advisor for the WALL (Wilderness Adventures in Leadership and Learning) Program. As such I will lead campers from Los Angeles County on a hike from our camp site in the San Bernardino Mountains to summit Mt. San Gorgonio, the highest peak in Southern California.
I cannot wait to see what my campers will accomplish and overcome on this hike and the people they will become, but none of this will be possible without your support!
This is my largest fundraising goal yet because we need to provide the backpacking supplies for our campers, who are teens from underserved communities in Los Angeles. Each camper will be carrying all the supplies they need, including food, for the four day hike. Your donation goes straight to making this opportunity a reality. It will give the campers and myself one of the most memorable weeks of our lives. Anything is appreciated. Thank you!
In Support of UCLA UniCamp
UCLA UniCamp is the official student charity of the University of California, Los Angeles. UniCamp operates as an independently funded non-profit organization linking the University with the community. Each year, UniCamp inspires nearly 1,000 children from underserved families to envision brighter futures by sending them, along with 400 student volunteers, to its residential outdoor summer camp.
