Dear Family, Friends, and Loved Ones, For the fifth straight year, I am thankful to be volunteering for UCLA UniCamp this summer. UniCamp is UCLA's official student charity and have been serving the youth of the Los Angeles area for over 80 years. Through this organization, we serve kids from the greater Los Angeles area that otherwise wouldn't be able to afford a normal camp experience and we fundraise money to keep the cost of our camp affordable. Every year, we bring up over 1,000 campers to UniCamp and we have over 350 UCLA student volunteers that train, fundraise, and donate their time to help impact the lives of these great kids. This year, I am involved in a part of UniCamp geared towards high-school aged kids called W.A.L.L or Wilderness Adventure in Leadership and Learning. The program will place teen campers on a 26 mile hike to the highest peak in southern California. The program aims to build leadership by challenging both the mind and body in a tough 4 day hike (the other 4 days will be spent on site pre-briefing and debriefing about the hike). Overall, the entire week will focus heavily on leadership programming and personal growth for the campers. As stated above, all the volunteers fundraise to make sure that as many kids as possible are able to attend our camp. My personal fundraising goal for this year is $2015 and I'm hoping that you would be willing to help me not only reach my goal, but surpass it! Your donation and sponsorship will go toward providing our campers with food, board, transportation, and hiking equipment (packs, sleeping bags, tents, etc.), as well as facilities fees (electricity, sewage, trash removal, etc.) Donations of all sizes are greatly appreciated and anything you can give will go towards these kids having a great experience at camp this summer.
