A Message From Michael Anderson
As most of you know, I volunteer for UCLA UniCamp, a non-profit organization that serves children from low-income families in an outdoor summer camp setting. These children come from a variety of cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, and the program is dedicated to helping those kids envision and work towards a brighter future. The 2015 camp season celebrates the 80th anniversary of the program as well as some exciting changes.
In the past we have focused mainly on leadership development for our campers. This year each of the weeklong sessions will actually address various social and educational initiatives. Some include health and nutrition to fight childhood obesity, anti-bullying, and mental health. The other sessions focus on something that I am truly passionate about, education! There are sessions dedicated to STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math), outdoor education, literacy intervention, and college readiness!
As part of the alumni, I am still heavily involved in our fundraising campaign and I am writing to you all to ask for you help to reach my goal of $2015 (tax deductible!!!). If you prefer, you can also donate to me in person. In addition to letter writing, I am also working on projects including clubbing events, a pub crawl, and possibly a 5K to also help with fundraising.
Thanks for taking the time to read about UniCamp and for your donation. Every little bit truly helps make a world of difference for these kids.

In Support of UCLA UniCamp
UCLA UniCamp is the official student charity of the University of California, Los Angeles. UniCamp operates as an independently funded non-profit organization linking the University with the community. Each year, UniCamp inspires nearly 1,000 children from underserved families to envision brighter futures by sending them, along with 400 student volunteers, to its residential outdoor summer camp.
