A Message From Andres Munoz
Hello!
Thanks for checking-out my Give Effect page! My name is Andres Muñoz, but everyone up the mountain calls me "Bubblegum." This is my third and final year volunteering for the only official philanthropy of the students of UCLA: UniCamp. This organization was one of the highlights of my undergraduate career at UCLA. I have made countless friends, developed my leadership skills, and have witnessed the positive impact this organization has made on the youth of the surrounding Los Angeles communities.
This year, I am one of three counselors for the older camper program (OCP) UniCorps! Our goal is to instill service learning and leadership confidence in our "older" campers (ages 15-17) so they have the desire and skills to create positive change in their Los Angeles communities. My co-counselors and I have spent the last few months brainstorming the various things we want to teach our campers, but through a fresh and creative medium. I am most looking forward to having an open conversation with our campers about the importance of recycling and up-cycling. What better way to have this conversation than framing it within the world of thrifting! My co-counselors and I plan to run a donation-funded thrift pop-up shop to help de-stigmatize the idea of second-hand apparel and to teach about the damaging effects of fast fashion.
Because my time with UniCamp is nearing its end, I am challenging myself to fundraise $1,000 this year. Please consider helping me reach this goal to help subsidize the camp costs for my UniCorps campers! Help me go out with a BANG!
In Support of UCLA UniCamp
UCLA UniCamp is the official student charity of the University of California, Los Angeles. UniCamp operates as an independently funded non-profit organization linking the University with the community. Each year, UniCamp inspires nearly 1,000 children from underserved families to envision brighter futures by sending them, along with 400 student volunteers, to its residential outdoor summer camp.
