The Fundraising Page of Fennie "Starfire" Huynh

Hi everyone! My name is Fennie Huynh, but at camp, I go by “Starfire” and I’m returning for my 3rd summer with UCLA UniCamp as a UniCorps Advisor. Since 1934, UniCamp gives underserved youth from Los Angeles a chance to explore the wilderness, develop skills such as leadership and teamwork, and ultimately a chance to dream big and succeed. Campers can partake in activities such as archery, arts and crafts, or push themselves with the alpine climbing tower, swimming, or mountain biking. It’s an unforgettable summer week at Camp River Glen for them to grow, build friendships, and just have plain fun. In 2021, my session specifically catered toward students from Horace Mann UCLA Community School and focused on building social and emotional learning. I was both a Classic Camp counselor and a Nature specialist, looking after girls from one cabin and also leading the rest on nature walks and hikes to the nearby river. Last summer in 2022, my session was the Camp Fostering Equality session and we catered toward LGBTQ+ and foster youth in the Los Angeles area. This 2023 summer, my session is The Village Nation which has a focus on building leadership, self-awareness, and communication skills. More specifically, I am volunteering as an advisor for UniCorps, which is an Older Camper Program that also emphasizes leadership through service learning. Similar to previous years, I am humbly asking for your support, at whatever amount you feel comfortable, to help me reach a goal of $1,000. All proceeds will help subsidize the cost of camp for each youth. Camp would not be possible without the contributions from generous donors like you.
