A Message From Jamie Griffith
I'm a Climate Science and Statistics double major hoping to make a difference at Unicamp! Some of my favorite volunteering I've done has been educating in the great outdoors! From being a docent for local 4th graders to a week with San Mateo Outdoor Ed. This summer I’ve been supervising the 50’ Alpine tower at Camp River Glen, giving 100s of kids the chance to climb, many for the first time!
It's so pure and joyful getting to show kids a taste of nature, and what some of the amazing things we can find out there look like. I'm bringing that same enthusiasm to Unicamp as we channel the Woodsey magic! This year I'll be a leader with CLIMB (Core Lessons in Mind and Body) where we show high schoolers how to climb, belay, and eventually rock climb outdoors while tying in mindfulness for a holistic experience.
In Support of UCLA UniCamp
UCLA UniCamp is the official student charity of the University of California, Los Angeles. UniCamp operates as an independently funded non-profit organization linking the University with the community. Each year, UniCamp inspires nearly 1,000 children from underserved families to envision brighter futures by sending them, along with 400 student volunteers, to its residential outdoor summer camp.
