A Message From Manar "Mango" Ansari
Hi everyone! This is Manar, aka Mango. I'm so excited to be returning to camp for a third time and the CLIMB program for a second time. CLIMB - Core Lessons in Mind and Body - uses rock climbing as a way to teach high schoolers about the importance of mental and physical health, and the intersection between the two.
Campers will get to practice climbing and belaying on the alpine tower before getting to use their skills on an actual cliff in Holcombe Valley. Through rock climbing and belaying, we hope that the campers will develop confidence, resilience, and trust in themselves and each other. They get to challenge themselves in a safe and supportive environment and learn how to set goals.
For me, rock climbing is terrifying no matter how many times I do it, but there is nothing quite like the feeling when you get to the top. Facing my fears gives me a sense of accomplishment and motivation that I can do anything I put my mind to.
UniCamp has given me a supportive community and encouraged my dream to work with kids in the future. I've gotten to meet so many amazing people and spent so much time in nature, which I thought I would hate but actually love. I'm sure that many of the kids will feel the same way. UniCamp has made such a big difference in my life, and I know that it can do the same for the kids.
Your donation goes towards covering all of the normal costs of camp (food, transportation, etc) plus rock climbing equipment. Donations ARE tax deductible and check here to see if your employer matches donations: https://www.unicamp.org/match/
I would greatly appreciate any donation no matter the size. Thank you so much for your consideration!
