A Message From Melissa "Rapunzel" Theis
Hi Friends!
My name is Mel Theis, but at summer camp the kids will know me as Rapunzel!
I'm ecstatic to partake in an amazing organization at UCLA called Unicamp! UniCamp is UCLA's official philanthropy, which focuses on bringing children from underserved communities from urban LA areas up to the mountains. During the week of resident camp, we will help facilitate as campers explore multiple avenues of self-expression through traditional camp activities as well as educational and artistic programs.
I've had the opportunity to attend a resident camp at the age of 13 in 2012, and have been going every summer since. I attribute camp to a big portion of who I am today. I have an everlasting love for camp due to the community it creates both during and after the sessions. I hope to inspire the next generation that attends camp and give back the same experience I had the privilege of receiving as a camper so long ago.
To make the camp experience more accessible my goal is to raise $450 to help subsidize the cost of camp for each camper. I would appreciate any amount you're willing to contribute! :)
In Support of UCLA UniCamp
UCLA UniCamp is the official student charity of the University of California, Los Angeles. UniCamp operates as an independently funded non-profit organization linking the University with the community. Each year, UniCamp inspires nearly 1,000 children from underserved families to envision brighter futures by sending them, along with 400 student volunteers, to its residential outdoor summer camp.
