A Message From Fennie "Starfire" Huynh

Hi everyone! My name is Fennie Huynh, but at camp, I go by “Starfire” and I’m returning for my second summer with UCLA UniCamp as a camp counselor. Since 1934, UniCamp gives underserved youth from Los Angeles a chance to explore the wilderness, develop skills such as leadership and teamwork, and ultimately a chance to dream big and succeed. Campers can partake in activities such as archery, arts & crafts, or push themselves with the alpine climbing tower, swimming, or mountain biking. It’s an unforgettable summer week at Camp River Glen for them to grow, build friendships, and just have plain fun. Last summer, my session specifically catered towards students from Horace Mann UCLA Community School and focused on building social and emotional learning. I was both a Classic Camp counselor and a Nature specialist, looking after girls from one cabin and also leading the rest on nature walks and hikes to the nearby river. This summer, my session is the Camp Fostering Equality session and we cater towards LGBTQ+ and foster youth in the Los Angeles area. Similar to last year, I am humbly asking for your support, at whatever amount you feel comfortable, to help me reach a goal of $450. All proceeds will help subsidize the cost of camp for each youth. With your contribution, you may help inspire these campers to become future botanists of tomorrow! Any amount you donate is greatly appreciated, thank you so much for your support! Much Woodsey Love, Starfire
