A Message From Jacob "Marmot" Moulton
WALL IS BACK! 🎒
Backpacking has always been my favorite way to immerse myself in the great outdoors. I first joined UniCamp when I was looking for fellow nature-lovers. When in my second year of camp I heard that UniCamp's backpacking program was shutting down due to wildfires that had made the route impassable, I was heartbroken.
This year I'm proud to bring back UniCamp's oldest Older Camper Program – WALL. WALL is a backpacking experience where our campers prepare to summit the highest peak in Southern California: San Gorgonio Mountain.
It's been a tough journey to bring this program back – I spent months scouting the San Gorgonio Wilderness to find a route that would work and at times it felt impossible. But it was all worth the joy that I've seen from our campers at the top of the summit.
All donations are greatly appreciated! These donations go directly towards providing the equipment and resources (sleeping bags, tents, food, fuel, etc) that enable our campers on their outdoor adventures.
In Support of UCLA UniCamp
UCLA UniCamp is the official student charity of the University of California, Los Angeles. UniCamp operates as an independently funded non-profit organization linking the University with the community. Each year, UniCamp inspires nearly 1,000 children from underserved families to envision brighter futures by sending them, along with 400 student volunteers, to its residential outdoor summer camp.
