A Message From Manar "Mango" Ansari
Hi everyone!
I loved my experience with Unicamp last year, and I am so excited to be doing it again. This year, I am an advisor working with the older campers (15-17) for a program called CLIMB. CLIMB - Core Lessons in Mind and Body - uses rock climbing to help campers to develop confidence, resilience, and self-growth. Campers will learn about goal setting and challenging their comfort zone, practice teamwork and communication skills, build trust and leadership, and engage in service-learning and mindfulness, all of which goes towards so much more than just rock climbing. I am so excited to be learning this new activity myself, which has been challenging but rewarding, and passing it on to my campers. This is a rare and unique opportunity for campers to challenge themselves in a safe and supportive environment, meet new friends and have fun, and experience nature.
UniCamp has given me a supportive community and encouraged my dream to work with kids in the future. UniCamp has made such a big difference in my life, and I know that it can do the same for the kids. I’ve personally experienced how nice it is to escape from my normal hectic schedule and just take some time to look at the stars and sing songs around a campfire, and I would love to share that feeling and help create lifelong memories.
Your donation goes towards covering all of the normal costs of camp (food, transportation, etc) plus rock climbing equipment. Donations ARE tax deductible and check here to see if your employer matches donations: https://www.unicamp.org/match/
I would greatly appreciate any donation no matter the size. Thank you so much for your consideration!
In Support of UCLA UniCamp
UCLA UniCamp is the official student charity of the University of California, Los Angeles. UniCamp operates as an independently funded non-profit organization linking the University with the community. Each year, UniCamp inspires nearly 1,000 children from underserved families to envision brighter futures by sending them, along with 400 student volunteers, to its residential outdoor summer camp.
