A Message From Heidi Choi
Hi everyone!
With the help of friends and family, I was able to fundraise enough to lead a week of summer camp this past summer which served around 100 of LA's youth! Since then, I've been working hard to train this upcoming year's volunteer leadership so that they may also create and lead their own weeks of camp.
UCLA UniCamp has been an incredibly special organization within which I've had the opportunity to deepen my appreciation for nature, grow as a leader, experience the transformative power of community, and learn to advocate for childhood. I'm coming back to be a counselor for a third year because it's continually given me so much and I've been able to see firsthand how the experience impacts campers and volunteer counselors alike.
This year, I am a part of a more focused program for highschool-aged campers called Core Lessons in Mind and Body (CLIMB) which includes an off-site overnight trip. As their counselors, we have the pleasure of teaching these campers the fundamentals of rock climbing as a way to experience mindfulness & self-growth. Every dollar amount you choose to give, no matter how big or small, all goes to making this program possible and affordable for our campers.
Thank you for all your support!
Much Woodsey Love,
Heidi "Bread" Choi

UCLA UniCamp is the official student charity of the University of California, Los Angeles. UniCamp operates as an independently funded non-profit organization linking the University with the community. Each year, UniCamp inspires nearly 1,000 children from underserved families to envision brighter futures by sending them, along with 400 student volunteers, to its residential outdoor summer camp.
