A Message From Rubie Amaya
Hello Everyone! My name is Rubie Amaya and I am back again for another year at UniCamp!UniCamp offers children the opportunity to immerse themselves in nature while also learning valuable life skills. Many of the children that attend UniCamp come from underprivileged communities and have not been given the opportunity to camp. Not only have they not been given this privilege, they are almost never fully allowed to be children and express themselves in their own way. This is where UniCamp is most beneficial. Taking them from their urban lives to explore nature allows the children to forget about their endeavors and express themselves as children. As a child that was never given the chance to attend camp herself, UniCamp is especially important to me. Giving children the power to be themselves is one of the most valuable and enriching experiences, not only for them but for you.
My time up at camp this year taught me a lot about myself as well as the importance of leading when no one else is able to. Resilience, compassion and understanding are some of the most important aspects I learned about myself at camp and I know my campers did too. Being a camp counselor has been one of the best experiences of my life which is why I am doing it again!
For these reasons I ask if you could please help me reach my goal of $450 to support UniCamp and the children that part take in this incredible opportunity. It would allow the kids to have an amazing time at camp and let them use the knowledge they gain and apply it to their everyday lives and the future ahead of them. Please help us out and donate as much or as little as you can!
