A Message From Albert Mendoza
Hi friends and family, this year I'm participating in Unicamp's session expression and I'm asking for your help to fundraise enough money to give a child the opportunity to experience camp, maybe for the first time in their life. Many of the kids we help come from underrepresented communities where they aren't able to experience the exitement of being in the wilderness and create new life long friendships with other kids. My session focuses on helping children reach their artistic potential and giving them a space to be expressive. Children who come from these communities, like myself, rarely have programs where they are able to express themselves through music, theater, or dance. My goal is to raise enough money to help a child go to camp and give them the experience that I never had. I believe that children need to have an opportunity to express themselves artistically and develop the hidden talent that they never thought they had.
In Support of UCLA UniCamp
UCLA UniCamp is the official student charity of the University of California, Los Angeles. UniCamp operates as an independently funded non-profit organization linking the University with the community. Each year, UniCamp inspires nearly 1,000 children from underserved families to envision brighter futures by sending them, along with 400 student volunteers, to its residential outdoor summer camp.
