HELP JENN/THIN MINT SEND A KID TO CAMP! Hi everyone, it is thin mint here!! So you’re probably wondering why I’m calling myself thin mint…it’s only the BEST GIRL SCOUT COOKIES EVER ;) Well, this year I am joining a very special organization called Unicamp and in its tradition you get to give yourself a camp nickname and I decided why not my favorite cookie! So this year, I am proud to say I will be a camp counselor for Unicamp. Unicamp is UCLA’s official nonprofit charity that sends kids from low-income families and undeserved communities to a week of unique camping experience teaching them about mental health, college readiness, and more. To help send these kids to camp means I need your help to fundraise. My fundraising goal is $500. I will be working with the SESSION 6 HEALTH, NUTRITION and FITNESS week where I will be teaching them about proper fitness, nutrition, awareness of childhood obesity, and teaching them ways to prevent themselves from certain diseases along with fun camp activities! We will also be working hand in hand with doctors from the Children Hospital of Los Angeles. Most of you may know, I have been a health and gym fanatic ever since I started college. Been trying to lose that freshman 15 ya know ;) But besides from being just fit, this hits close to home. During my high school years, I never had the opportunity to go out to do a sport or exercise. I never ate as healthy as I wanted to because there was so much access to unhealthy food. Coming to college, I realized I needed to keep myself healthy by being active and eating right. It has been my second year of staying active, not only has it made me physically healthy but also mentally. Through working out and choosing to eat healthier everyday, I have gained a sense of confidence and definitely been happier. I want these kids to feel the same way I do. Childhood obesity is becoming an epidemic especially in the United States. Kids these days are becoming less active. At home, kids are using more screen time. Schools are more focused on education and cutting back on areas such as the gym. By sending just one kid to camp, I am able to teach them about living a healthy lifestyle. I want them to have an experience where within this one week, not only is it for fun camp activities but also life changing. With your help, I am able to send a kid to camp and to teach them to live a happy and healthy lifestyle. No donation is too little or too generous ;) Everything fundraised will be for the kids. You will be greatly appreciated by Unicamp and especially me! And as an incentive if you guys help me reach my goal of $500, I will also work towards my goal of squatting one plate and post a video for you guys to see! YES ITS GOING TO BE CHALLENGING BUT ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE! If there are any questions, feel free to ask me.
