A Message From Nicole Partovy
Hello Friends!
I have pledged to raise $500 to send under-served children to camp for one week this summer through a program called UCLA Unicamp! Unicamp is an incredible program that designs a week of camp activities for under-served children to teach them valuable skills and to instill confidence in them so that they can thrive in all of their future endeavors. I have the great privilege of serving as a camp counselor this summer and I need YOUR help to raise the funds to help send some campers to camp! Do it for the children! Anything you can give, even $1, would be truly helpful. I really appreciate all of your support!
The focus of this particular program is to teach the campers about mental health, with the ultimate goals of raising mental health awareness, reducing the stigma, teaching them coping skills to maintain mental health in their lives (especially in the stressful college environment), and teaching them that it is okay to ask for help. Below is the description for the camp session in which I will serve as a camp counselor:
"Did you know that 1 in 3 college freshman leave after their first year of college? Did you know that 54% of these freshmen drop out due to stress? UCLA UniCamp will host a week of camp, in partnership with Project GRAD, that focuses on preparing high school students for college and promoting academic and social preparedness. This session will strive to teach our campers the importance of maintaining mental and emotional well being needed to be successful in an intensive university environment. This week will emphasize training campers on a number of social and emotional skills that will not only prepare them for college, but also allow them to be successful in their collegiate endeavors."
Thank you so much for donating!
In Support of UCLA UniCamp
UCLA UniCamp is the official student charity of the University of California, Los Angeles. UniCamp operates as an independently funded non-profit organization linking the University with the community. Each year, UniCamp inspires nearly 1,000 children from underserved families to envision brighter futures by sending them, along with 400 student volunteers, to its residential outdoor summer camp.
