A Message From Austin Ma
Welcome to my donation page!
As some of you who are reading this may or may not already know, this quarter, I’m participating in UniCamp at UCLA! If you do not know what UniCamp is already, I’d like to give you a brief introduction.
Some of us have fond memories of summer camp as part of our childhood. Singing campfire songs… gazing up at the stars… hiking around in the woods… For me personally, I look back at these memories and see how they’ve stayed with me and made a positive impact as I was growing up.
UniCamp is a non-profit student run organization started in 1934 with a simple mission – To harness the healing power of the wilderness by providing a unique outdoor camping experience for children from underserved neighborhoods.
Every year since then, students have come together to bring approximately 1,000 kids throughout the greater Los Angeles area to summer camp so that they can experience the outdoors and grow as individuals.
This year, my session is called TYE (Transitional Youth Empowerment). Our session focuses on children who were previously or are currently in the foster care system. UniCamp subsidizes the cost of camp so that every camper has the opportunity to attend. To do this, volunteers fundraise $450 so that all campers, regardless of background, can afford to go. It would mean a lot if you could contribute in any amount towards my fundraising goal. Thank you so much!
In Support of UCLA UniCamp
UCLA UniCamp is the official student charity of the University of California, Los Angeles. UniCamp operates as an independently funded non-profit organization linking the University with the community. Each year, UniCamp inspires nearly 1,000 children from underserved families to envision brighter futures by sending them, along with 400 student volunteers, to its residential outdoor summer camp.
