A Message From Justin Van Ligten

Hello! Last year with all of your support I was able to lead a group of over 45 UCLA student volunteers to create a week long summer camp experience for over 60 underprivileged Los Angeles children. This year I have the pleasure of being involved in an older camper program called CLIMB. In this program I will be working with a smaller group of high school aged children and teaching them leadership skills as well as hopefully showing them what they are capable of by introducing them to the basics of belaying and then climbing Mt. Holcomb. Most of you know that I am very passionate about the outdoors and if I am being honest I can say without a doubt that my experiences outdoors made me the man I am today. In order for us to subsidize the cost of sending these kids to participate in the CLIMB program each of us advisers need to raise 1,400 dollars. UniCamp operates as an independently funded non-profit organization linking the University with the community. Each year, UniCamp inspires nearly 1,000 children from underserved families to envision brighter futures by sending them, along with 400 student volunteers, to its residential outdoor summer camp.
