A Message From Lauren Nguyen
Hi everyone! My camp name is Puddles (inspired by the great Andy Truong) and this is going to be my second year volunteering at camp!
During the past 4 years in college, I learned my passion in non-profit work revolved around helping historically underprivileged and underrepresented students attain higher education. Being a part of the Vietnamese Student Union as the Education Coordinator and Unicamp as a volunteer has given me the opportunity to achieve this goal.
As UCLA's official charity, Unicamp sends underprivileged, at-risk students to a traditional week of summer camp. My particular session is called S.T.E.A.M., meaning that we will focus on Science, Technology, Education, Arts, and Math during our session geared towards high school students. My first year doing camp was an incredible experience as a Dance Specialist. It was very inspiring to see how a week up at camp affected these kids and how they viewed their lives. The narratives I heard were truly an eye-opener. I hope to have a similar, if not even better, experience this year with this being my last year in college!
In order to reach camp, however, each volunteer is required to raise $480 which is the approximate amount to send a kid to camp. And to reach this goal, I need YOUR help! Please know that every dollar counts and is highly appreciated! Every donation will be thanked [at the bare minimum] with a shout-out or haiku! And even if you cannot donate, please feel free to share my link with your family or friends. Thank you so much for your time and consideration!

In Support of UCLA UniCamp
UCLA UniCamp is the official student charity of the University of California, Los Angeles. UniCamp operates as an independently funded non-profit organization linking the University with the community. Each year, UniCamp inspires nearly 1,000 children from underserved families to envision brighter futures by sending them, along with 400 student volunteers, to its residential outdoor summer camp.
