A Message From Stefanie Johnston
Hello friends and family,
This is my fourth year in UCLA UniCamp. I joined UniCamp as a freshman and I immediately discovered my love of working with kids and I was inspired by the dedication of my fellow volunteers and the true love that our campers have for their week of camp. UniCamp has taught me the power of service and the meaning of empowerment and connection with others.
This year for the first time I will be participating in W.A.L.L. (Wilderness Adventures in Leadership and Learning). This program involves working with high school campers and together we will explore ideas of leadership. In addition we will be hiking for 26 miles and experiencing nature for 4 days. I hope that our hike and hopefully our summit to the top of Mount San Gorgonio will inspire us all to have confidence to face life's challenges.
Our hike isn't possible without fundraising. My goal this year is $2,015. The cost for WALL is $680 per participant, including advisors. So 3 advisors and 8 kids on average x 680 is the cost for a week. This covers transportation up and down the mountain, food, Wilderness First-aid Responder (OA) guides, and maintenance and upkeep on the gear. So we are actually fundraising to bring all of our campers up!
I appreciate your help and support. Any donation no matter how big or small will help make a difference.
Much Woodsey Love,
Sweet Pea

UCLA UniCamp is the official student charity of the University of California, Los Angeles. UniCamp operates as an independently funded non-profit organization linking the University with the community. Each year, UniCamp inspires nearly 1,000 children from underserved families to envision brighter futures by sending them, along with 400 student volunteers, to its residential outdoor summer camp.
